About
Charlie Blum

Charlie Blum is a renown entertainment industry executive with over 40 years experience as a major concert promoter, talent buyer, theatre executive, television producer and artist manager. He has served for 28 years as President/CEO and talent buyer for Chicagoland’s premier concert facility, the Star Plaza Theatre. His tenure there followed an 11 year stint as a Vice President with the Nederlander Organization, one of the nation’s foremost presenters of Broadway and nationwide entertainment.

During his illustrious career, Charlie has worked with virtually every major artist in show business, presenting thousands of concerts featuring performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Garth Brooks, Frank Sinatra, Madonna, The Jackson Five, Christina Aguilera, The Grateful Dead, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Rod Stewart and Cher as well as thousands of other celebrated entertainers.

His recent foray into personal management put UNDER THE STREETLAMP (the former stars of the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys”) in the national spotlight. In addition, his passion for developing careers has resulted in executive producing four nationally released PBS television shows. Most recently, Charlie created and was co-executive producer, along with Connecticut Public Broadcasting, of the groundbreaking PBS program “Harmonies 4 Healing”.

Charlie made his mark in the entertainment industry from a very early age. At 22, he was noted in Billboard Magazine as the youngest major theatre manager in the country. Only a few years later he served as associate producer on the Broadway show, “The Effect Of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” starring Shelly Winters.

In his spare time, Charlie is a mainstay of Chicagoland weekend television, hosting the popular Lakeshore Classic Movies on PBS. He also provides his expertise as an adjunct professor for graduate studies in Arts & Entertainment Administration.
